BRIAN Laws hopes to open talks on his future soon, backed by Sheffield Wednesday's climb into a challenging position.
The Owls' boss - in the last year of his current deal - understands that long-term issues are up in the air amid the club's quest for new ownership.
But the Wednesday board have recognised the need for more stability in ending their feud with fan
group Wednesdayite and Laws' position will rapidly climb the agenda.
He said yesterday: "I'm sure we'll sit down in the near future to at least discuss it."
Asked whether the situation concerned him, he said: "Yes and no. When your contract is running out you don't want it to - and I'm enjoying my time here.
"But, who do you go to to get the answer? The difficulty is that the club can't make many changes when there is the possibility of takeovers. I understand that."
Nevertheless, the current regime, in making plans to continue for the long haul if necessary, are bound to recognise the value of securing Laws if his team's promising form continues.
Wednesday will aim for a third win in a week at Plymouth tomorrow and Laws, who has been cautious away from home, said: "Let's go for the maximum. With six points under our belt, we can be a bit more adventurous. We won't be going there to defend or get a point.
"There's a real oppotunity to build up for the derby which we'll be talking about during the international break."
Laws knows the psychological edge of staying above the Blades, who are in sixth place. Teasingly, he could be able to re-introduce fit-again Akpo Sodje, who was a thorn in United's side last season.
On that, he said: "I'm not saying yes and I'm not saying no."
But Laws admits Francis Jeffers is under serious consideration for his first start tomorrow after three comeback appearances as substitute.
And the Owls' manager insisted: "We're still not in top gear. There's more to come from us."
Meanwhile, a rumoured interest in Hull defender Wayne Brown appears to be not entirely out of the question after Laws admitted yesterday: "We did enquire about him a while ago."
