A win for Parkhead on Saturday would have wrapped up the title regardless of Holmesfield or Sheffield Works Department's results, but as it happened they needed to rely on others to do the job for them.
Parkhead closed on 230-4 with Burkinshaw hitting 66 and Pass 87, but opponents Stanton managed to reach their total with three wickets in hand. Davis took 5-50 but Stanton's heroes were N Rosling who hit 58, Tann 54 and Wain 47.
That meant that S
WD could close the gap with a win at University Staff and Works started brightly bowling them out for 113 with Stewart taking 5-44. But despite 56 from Everitt, Works could only reach an identical total with 5-31 from Sharma helping Staff to tie and handing the championship to Parkhead for the second year in a row.
Ashford's win against Sheffield Collegiate IV condemned both them and Calver to at least a season in Division 2 as Wells went to work on the Collegiate batsmen taking 5-46 as they closed on 154-9 with Ash top scoring on 46. In reply Ashford lost six wickets but went on to secure survival with two weeks still to play.
Holmesfield can still take second in the division and did their cause no harm with an away win at Calver. Contributions of 42 from Ward, 70 from Turner and 69 from Pearson saw them to 229-9 with Coxhead, whose outstanding form has been the only shining light in a dismal season for Calver, taking 6-66. Calver's response was spirited but once again fruitless as they closed on 213-8 just 17 short of victory with the pick of the bowlers Howie who took 6-66.
De La Salle had a day to forget bowled out for 66 against Hundall and losing by eight wickets.
Hathersage and Ridgeway are promoted from Division 2 after this weekend and all that remains is in what order they go up. Ridgeway restricted Millhouses to 124-9 – Olner top scoring with 61 not out – but 54 from Roberts saw Ridgeway to a convincing eight-wicket win.
A knock of 49 from Ben Chambers was Sheepbridge's highlight in their 120-7 but James Outram took centre stage with a hat-trick for Grindleford. That was as good as it got for Grindleford however as they were bowled out for 78 with Whittle taking 6-29.
Hathersage posted 113-9 with Scholey taking 4-46 for Centralians but 4-17 from Nobrega proved decisive as Cents collapsed to 101 all out.

Owens contributed 43 to Sheffield Transport's 143-9 before Cotterill's 6-18 added to struggling SWD's woes as they were dismissed for 57.
De La Salle II made it a double defeat for both firsts and seconds as their 171-6 which featured 74 from Bulmer wasn't enough to keep Walkley at bay. Hudson's 70 not out helped his side to a six-wicket win.
Eight-man Centralians II worked hard to keep Whittington Wanderers II to 110-6 with 43 from Vickery the top score. They then won with the last pair at the crease making Henderson's 4-25 in vain.
Wanderers' first team faired no better as they crawled onto 55-8. Taylor took 4-25 for Sheepbridge II who won by six wickets.
A seven-wicket haul from Rupra was the catalyst for Zingari's success. Coal Aston fell on 100 and Zingari sneaked to a two- wicket win.
Lots of fine individual performances in the Stocksbridge II, Hundall game. Figures of 4-48 from Allinder and 4-43 from Pursehouse helped bowl out Stocksbridge for 153 with Newton the pick of the batsmen scoring 49. A return of 4-31 from Harris for Stocksbridge wasn't quite enough as Hundall won by six-wickets with Warnes not out on 74.
Another superb bowling display on Saturday from Lewis of 6-28 bowled out Hathersage II for 94 and allowed Dronfield Woodhouse to win by six wickets.
In Division 5 Ashford inched closer to the title with a comprehensive defeat of Hallam IV. Ashford posted 218-4 and then bowled out Hallam for just 78.
It was a successful day for University Staff II too as Hibbert's 77 and Franklin's 53 were the key scores in their 222-3 and then a masterful display from Young saw him claim figures of 6-26 as Zingari fell for 81.
