JAMES Toseland survived a collision to equal the best result of his MotoGP career with sixth place in the Dutch TT.
The Kiveton-born rider, who looked in danger of losing his ride and dropping to World Superbikes next season, was further boosted by his Tech 3 Yamaha boss Herve Poncharal who hailed it as 'easily his best race of the season.'
Toseland took advan
tage of a last lap crash by Finn Mika Kallio to take sixth spot.
"It was an incredible battle for most of the race. I knew once I was at the front of the bunch that it would be a case of protecting it. That's exactly what I did but it was nearly all spoiled on the last lap."
Reigning world champion Valentino Rossi won the race, his 100th grand prix triumph.
Toseland is now primed for Sunday's American GP at Laguna Seca, California.
