Luke Cutts (Dearne ALC), Mukhtar Mohammed (Sheffield RC) and Sheffield-based Louise Bloor – already selected for the Commonwealth Games – are expected to be in action at the UK Championships in Birmingham, starting tonight and continuing until Sunday.
The meeting is the trial for the European Championships in Zurich in August with the first two selected subject to achieving the qualifying standard.
Cutts has had a frustrating summer with an injury curtailing his training. He has only had one outdoor competition where he cleared a modest 5.20. This followed an outstanding indoor season when he set a new UK best of 5.83. He will be looking to re-capture that sort of form and clinch his place for Zurich.
Mohammed had a poor run in last week’s European team championship and will be looking to bounce back to his best which has seen him run inside 1:46 for 800 metres.
Bloor is part of a very strong sprint squad and will be aiming to push her claims to be part of the relay team for Zurich.
