The Sharks maintained the pressure on the top two in the BBL with victory at Durham Wildcats on Sunday afternoon.
Sheffield needed a strong fourth quarter - something that is becoming their speciality - to see off the Wildcats.
Holding a 53-50 lead heading into the final period the Sharks put together a 19-1 run midway through the quarter to hold a 75-55 advantage.
Six different Sheffield players scored during the burst, which was capped off by a BJ Holmes three-point shot. Earlier Sharks had led 18-16 after the first quarter before allowing six point second quarter lead to be whittled back to 34-33 entering the half time interval.
Another Holmes three broke the deadlock at 50-50 to give Sheffield a slender advantage with ten minutes to play and the decisive final stanza run did the rest.
Sharks take on Worcester Wolves on Wednesday in the second leg of their BBL Trophy semi-final. The Wolves won the first leg 62-60 at the EIS on Friday night.
