SHEFFIELD Sharks will look to extend their winning run to six on Saturday night when they make the long journey to Plymouth Raiders.

After qualifying for the play-offs with a 78-73 victory last Friday against Worcester Wolves the Sharks followed it up with an excellent defensive effort at home to Glasgow Rocks on Tuesday.

The 62-52 win sets Sharks up perfectly for Saturday’s trip said coach Atiba Lyons: “It’s first time a lot of our guys have gone down there. It’s a tough road trip generally but we have to show up and make sure we stick around in that first quarter because they come out quick.

“We have to weather that storm and hopefully we get our legs under us and make a push in the second half.

“It was an amazing defensive effort (the Rocks match).

“We went straight man-to-man and held a good scoring team to 52 points. We contested most of their shots and we forced turnovers. I told the guys that if we can play defence then we’ll start making our shots and pulling away.”

It’s likely that Sharks will play Newcastle Eagles in the first round of the play-offs. The two meet twice before the regular season ends at the English Institute of Sport. The first is Sunday (5pm) and then again on Tuesday, April 2 (7.30pm).
