Basketball: Sharks players honoured in BBL awards

Sheffield Sharks players BJ Holmes and Mike Tuck have been rewarded for their season’s efforts by being named in the BBL teams of the year.

Point-guard Holmes from Houston, Texas, who joined the club in last November last year, was handed a place in the Molten BBL Team of the Year squad.

The 24-year-old missed out in the starting five but was named on the bench.

British-Canadian Tuck, the Sharks captain, was voted into the Molten BBL British Team of the Year. Tuck also finished among the front runners of being in the BBL’s weekly Team of the Week. The 30-year-old had five appearances throughout the season.

Earlier this week coach Atiba Lyons finished runner-up in the BBL Coach of the Year award.

Sharks season ended on Monday night when they were knocked out of the play-offs by Newcastle Eagles.
