Sheffield Sharks have recalled three former members of their development programme into the senior set-up.
Eddy and George Brownell and Marko Backovic were products of the junior sharks development programme and have have spent the past few season periphery of the main team.
Marko, a junior International and the Brownell brothers will remain in Sheffield for the year ahead and will train and play full time.
George, the more senior of the three will enter into his fourth season with the mens squad but will be looking to increase his role in BBL competition a move endorsed by head Coach Atiba Lyons.
“George has worked very hard in training and we have seen some of what he can do on the court but up until now he has had limited opportunities” said Lyons. “But now we have a squad that can support more time for George to execute his game and we are looking forward to seeing that this season”.
For Marko and Eddy this will be a key season as they will be looking to increase time on the court in support of their development.
“These two guys are young with great potential and already make a positive impact in practise, again I want to see their game consolidate so that they can support the team off the bench with increasing confidence”.
First look at the sharks will be against the Manchester Magic on Saturday 5th September, with the first home game on Friday 18th September tip off 7.30pm, tickets available on www.tickets.com
