Sheffield’s Devon Van Oostrum has been named in the a provisional squad of 22 players for Great Britain’s EuroBasket qualification campaign later this summer.

Van Oostrum, aged 21, is a former Junior Sharks player but now plies his trade in Spain with Laboral Kutxa who are based in the Basque city of Vitoria.

The qualification matches begin on August 10 with an away tie in Iceland but before that there are two of preparation games against Latvia on Saturday July 19 and 20 at the University of Worcester Arena.

These are followed by two games in Belgium and a four-nation tournament in Tbilisi, where GB will take on Belarus, Moldova and hosts Georgia.

Ex Sharks star Nate Reinking will be an assistant coach for Great Britain.

The women’s team, which features Hatters players Lauren Thomas-Johnson and Steph Gandy, has already qualified for their European Championships after coming through their group last month.
