Blades ready for fun, sun, music ... and football

Sheffield United have new opposition for their pre-season friendly in Malta.

Champions League commitments means that original opposition Hibernians have stepped down. Instead, the Blades will take on Maltese Premier League Club, Floriana at the Hibernians ground on Friday, July 10 – part of the Football, Fun, Music, Sun activities taking place during United pre-season tour to Malta.

United and the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) are staging the activities to mark the club's pre-season tour (July 6 to 10) which coincides with the 'Malta Music Week', featuring a free 'Isle of MTV' concert next Wednesday which stars the Black Eyed Peas and Lady Gaga.

On Saturday the Blades and MTA event team will display a giant Sheffield United flag in Valletta. Islanders will be invited to sign the flag that will be taken back to Bramall Lane and displayed at next season's home games.

The mid-week action starts with the Blades opening their summer training camp to the public at the Hibernians Stadium.

A charity evening will be held next Thursday when guests will have the opportunity to mingle with the first team squad.
