Sheffield Boxing Centre’s hierarchy is changing.

Recent defeats to Ross Burkinshaw - to Doncaster’s Gavin McDonnell - and John Fewkes have seen the limelight switched to others in the Hillsborough camp.

Burkinshhaw suggested Sam Sheedy and Jez Wilson were now brand-leaders at the gym.

“I’d love to say myself, but at this moment in time after a defeat, it’s got to be either Sam or Jez,” he said. “Fighting wise Jez is up there, but Sam is such a skilled boxer, he’s doing very well (10+0.) He’s 25 years old; he’s still got plenty of time ahead of him, he’s in his prime.”

Burkinshaw would love to see Wilson take on big-hitting Sheffielder Adam Etches. “What a great fight for Sheffield that would be. I believe Jez is a great fighter and boxer. Jez and Adam are pals but I can see Jez beating him, definitely.”
