If Neil Dawson is to realise his dream of becoming a British champion, he must overcome another tricky hurdle tonight.

Thorpe Hesley boxer Dawson takes on Chris Keane for the WBO International cruiserweight title at Walsall Town Hall searching for his 12th victory in 14 bouts.

However, Keane has yet to taste defeat in 10 outings and will be fighting on home soil.

Dawson, looking to make amends following his early exit from the cruiserweight Prizefighter tournament earlier this month when he was beaten by Danny McIntosh. told The Star: “I have got nothing to fear in this fight.

“Chris will have added pressure on him fighting in his home-town. He will have the fans and he has got to perform. It might work to my advantage but it could work in his.”

“Chris is a good puncher. I know I can’t take him lightly.”

Keane, who has won half of his clashes by knock-out, said: “Neil is a decent kid. My team have studied his style and we’re working on our game plan. He’s tough and durable with loads of heart. I’m feeling good, though, and will be ready for him.”
