Rod Smith must learn from his ugly experience of a first-round knockdown against veteran Max Maxwell, says his promoter Dave Coldwell.
The Dronfield man climbed off the canvas at iceSheffield to complete his sixth straight professional win last week. And Coldwell believes that moment must shape Smith’s future if he is to climb the middleweight ladder.
“Rod was coming off a hard fight with Liam Cameron against an opponent who was not as demanding, but that knockdown obviously presents him with a learning curve” said the promoter. “He’d been warned about Maxwell’s right hand and now he’ll remember you always have to be switched on - or you’ll get hurt!” Smith fights again on May 9.
