New Sheffield world champion is getting rave reviews - including one from the greatest fighter on the planet.
Floyd Mayweather said while the Brook v Shawn Porter showdown was “hard to watch” he had good things to say about Yorkshire’s IBF champ.
“The guy Kell Brook came to my boxing gym I think five days before the fight and watched me spar a little bit. Cool guy. A true gentleman. He earned it the hard way” said the undefeated pound-for-pound king.
“After that many fights, whether it’s against tomato cans or top opposition, you’re going to have some type of experience to be able to go 12 rounds, and you have to be able to fight just a bit if you beat everybody that they put in front of you. So congratulations to him. I wish him nothing but the best.”
Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn said he appreciated the “nice words” from Mayweather. Now Hearn is organising an IBF title defence for Brook in Sheffield on December 6.
