KELL BROOK has acknowledged Saturday’s WBA Inter-Continental welterweight title clash with Lovemore N’Dou will present his biggest test so far.

Brook, fighting just round the corner from his Sheffield home at Hillsborough Recreation Centre on Saturday, has won 23 straight fights, but is honest enough to publicly declare that N’Dou, a former IBF world champion, is a street ahead of his earlier opponents.

“I’ve never been in with someone of his calibre, but that will bring different things out of me too,” he said. “I know whatever he throws at me, I’ve got the answer to it. It’s going to bring the best out of me, he’s tough, game and has experience, but he won’t have fought someone as good as me either.”

Brook’s South African opponent has twice fought Paul Malignaggi, Ryan Rhodes’ conqueror Saul Alvarez, stablemate Junior Witter and Miguel Angel Cotto so Brook is exhibiting some real confidence in that last statement.

Brook has made it clear he would like to be the first fighter to KO N’Dou. He says: “I want to go past seven rounds against Lovemore. I want the fans to enjoy an exciting fight, but if it (a KO) comes, it comes. N’dou keeps coming forward, he chucks big shots and he’s durable, so our styles will gel nicely. The fight has got excitement written all over it.”

Brook wants to fight the top names in the sport. “I’m in the game to fight the best to see what I’ve got - that’s all I’ve dreamt about as a kid.

“I’d love to fight a Mayweather or Pacquiao one day. If we get past N’dou. Eddie Hearn (promoter) wants to get me a World title shot soon.

“It’s not always up to the fighter where you fight but a World title shot for me in Sheffield Arena would be amazing - a real career highlight.”

Brook, who hasn’t boxed since December (WBO Inter-Continental win in Liverpool over Philip Kotey) is making his debut for the Matchroom promotional firm.

“Since joining Matchroom everything has changed,” he said. “The relationship I’ve got with Eddie Hearn and with Sky Sports is amazing.

“I couldn’t wish for anything better; I’m in a really good place now.”

Brook added: “I’ve done all the interviews and there’s a lot of people talking about me - but no-one has seen me fight for a while so it’s time to show them what Kell Brook can do and prove I can live up to the hype.”
