Kid out to emulate Prince’s display

It is two decades since ‘Prince’ Naseem Hamed claimed the European title by beating Italian Vincenzo Belcastro at Ponds Forge - and this weekend, Kid Galahad wants to emulate that feat by “taking apart” Spaniard Sergio Prado at the same venue.

The 24-year-old Sheffielder faces Prado, a former Spanish super bantamweight champion, for the vacant European super bantamweight title in his home city.

And Galahad, the undefeated former WBC International and British super bantamweight champion, said: “I’m feeling in good shape, I’ve been training hard since my last fight and I’m ready for the European title.

“It’s been 20 years since Naz won the European at Ponds Forge and I’m looking to do a better job than Nas did on Vincenzo Belcastro.

“I’m looking to make sure when I go in there I’ll be unbelievable.

“I’m going to dismantle this guy, I’m going to dissect him.

“It will be a hard fight, but I’m going to go in there and do whatever I’ve got to do to take this kid apart.”

The show also features the MaxiNutrition Knockout second set of quarter finals, as Travis Dickinson takes on Danny McIntosh and Matty Clarkson fights the Ingle’s Lee Duncan.

Saturday’s show is live on Channel 5.
