One man not overly impressed with Kid Galahad’s British title win over the weekend was super-bantamweight target Carl Frampton.

Only Ulsterman Frampton and Manchester’s Scott Quigg are now above Galahad in the British rankings and the ambitious youngsters has sights on both of them.

After stopping Liverpool’s James Dickens with a scorching left hand in the tenth round, Galahad was quick to call out Frampton but the Belfast man says he is not interested.

He said: “He (Galahad) fought well against Dickens, but I thought Jazza would be weight-drained and that seemed to be the case. He is a great talker but I don’t take much notice of what he says.”

Steel City amateur product Dalton Smith, 16, got to the quarter-finals of the Junior World Championships in Kiev, losing to eventual winner Kazakh Abylaykhan Zhussupov.
