Sheffield boxer Sam Sheedy predicts fifth round KO at Magna Centre, Rotherham

The Sheffield middleweight is brimming with confidence after changing part of his fitness regime to improve his conditioning.

The 28-year-old had suffered problems with his knees on long runs, but has now swapped that for gruelling up-hill interval climbs.

“It has done wonders for my cardio-vascular and compliments my overall power which has broken through a barrier since I went up from light middleweight” he said.

“People didn’t think I used to have power - but there is fire in my hands now.”

Sheedy says he is not underestimating Robinson, 31, from Redditch, Worcestershire, in the Magna Centre clash, on Saturday, but adds: “In reality, he has no chance.

“On paper, he doesn’t rate as much of a threat as other fighters I’ve faced like Nav Mansouri and Bradley Pryce and I don’t recognise many of his opponents, other than Frank Buglioni, who beat him (on the Fury v Chisora undercard, 2014.)

“He might be thinking he can box me and then finish me off later - but what will happen is that I will put him on his backside inside five rounds.

“He’ll find out how hard I hit. They say he has got a good chin, but we’ll see about that,”

Sheedy finished off his last ring enemy Frank Dodze with a first round KO and says he has developed more power since that fight in November.

n Sheedy hopes Sheffield’s Kell Brook can turn the boxing world upside down when the welterweight champion takes on middleweight icon Gennady Golovkin on September 10. “I’d love to see that. But it’s hard to predict. GGG is like an alien from another planet and if I’m honest I can’t see anybody beating him. But it would be great for Sheffield if Kell won - I’d love to eat my words.”
