Former world champion Clinton Woods tonight paid tribute to Sheffield United footballer-turned-boxer Curtis Woodhouse.

Woodhouse is considering retiring after losing his British light welterweight crown to Willie Limond, last weekend.

Woods, the IBF ruler at light heavyweight told Sky’s Ringside programme: “It was a very good fight.

“It wasn’t the result I wanted. Old Curtis has done fantastic; footballer to boxer - it’s a great story.”

*Sheffield’s Kell Brook says he has plenty of time to prepare for his IBF welterweight world title showdown with Shawn Porter.

The bout is now confirmed for six weeks on Saturday in Carson, California.

“I am well ahead of schedule - I can’t wait to get in there” the super-confident Ingle man said.
