BEST mates Adam Etches and Scott Jenkins will be going all out to impress their mentor’s scouts on Thursday night.
The Ricky Hatton-promoted prospects headline a charity event at Double Tree by Sheffield’s Hilton hotel with proceeds going to Weston Park Hospital charity.
The popular, unbeaten duo, both aged 20, sold out the show in less than 24 hours, and now they’ve done their bit for charity are keen to add further wins to their burgeoning records in front of the eagle-eyed Hatton promotions team.
Etches (won five) said: “Ricky won’t be there but his dad will be and a lot of people high up in the organisation so it’s up to me to make an impression.
“I’ve switched gyms to the Ingles and I’m improving as a fighter and fitting in nicely. I fight aggressively and give the fans what they want to see.”
Etches, from Birley, is up against Bulgarian Daniel Borisov whilst former junior ABA champion Jenkins, who comes from Intake, faces the tough Sid Razak over four rounds.
Jenkins, trained by his dad Lee at Chesterfield’s St Michael’s club, has won both his pro contests and believes stopping Birmingham’s Razak, who has only not heard the final bell four times in his 75 defeats, would send out a big message at this stage of his career.
“I was a good amateur and only lost 15 out of 65, but I know I’ll have to be at my best to beat him. He’s obviously only been stopped by really talented kids,” he said.
“I’m going all out to get to the top as soon as I can. By finishing Razak off early I’d show that I was better than other prospects he’s given a tough fight to.
