Sheffield High School and Silverdale shared top billing in the County round National Schools netball competition.
Silverdale won all their games in the Under-14s event at Tapton to take the title with Sheffield High runners-up after losing the one game to their great rivals 6-4.
It was a similar scenario in the Under-16s but in reverse as the High School came away with a 100 per cent record although the battle for the top place with Silverdale was even closer as they edged home by just one goal.
Results in the Under-18 age group at the EIS echoed the previous competitions as Sheffield High won all their matches, the crucial one being a 6-3 victory over second place Silverdale.
Other schools who took part were: Aston, Clifton (Rotherham), Dinnington, Hall Cross (Doncaster), King Edward V11, Notre Dame and Wickersley.
The teams from the two schools now go forward to the Regional tournament at Wickersley to fight for the Yorkshire and Humberside titles which would give them a place in the national finals.
It's not just netball where Sheffield high excel as the Under-13 tennis team has now served up a first – qualifying for the Aegon National Schools Team Tennis Finals. Rachel Hopkins, Natalie Chan-Lam, Johanna Winder and Olivia Noble turned history-makers with success in a knockout competition against schools from all over the North.
They beat Tapton in the South Yorkshire round and then defeated Brooksbank Sports College and GSAL in the Yorkshire competition before coming through against Manchester High School and St. Georges, Edinburgh and Newcastle in the North section. The finals take place this weekend at the Bolton Arena.
