Coaching award joy for Adam

Hope Valley Rugby Club’s Adam Russell has been awarded the High Peak Community Coach of the Year Award.

This is in recognition of him attaining coaching badges in both Rugby Union and Rugby League and for his work with the pupils of Hope Valley College.

Adam has coached Hope Valley Firsts Union side which was promoted as champions and skippered and coached the Hawks League side which won the Midlands play-off final.

Meanwhile the Hawks came away with a 43-27 victory at Bury Fourths. Two tries from Jay McGuigan and one from Elliott plus two conversions from Ric Spencer put Valley 19-17 ahead at half-time but the home side then took a 27-19 lead.

Man of the Match Tom Wain reduced the gap to one point and Tom McGuigan scored under the posts and Jay added the conversion to give Hawks the lead once more. Mylnek then sealed the win.
