Double up for Sheffield Hallam men’s indoor hockey squad with wins over South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield University Bankers and Doncaster.

They edged out Bankers by the odd goal in seven in their opening Premier Division clash at Concord Sports Centre with a double from Will Musgrave and one each for Phil Roper and Martin Ebbage.

Roper then helped himself to a hat-trick in the 5-3 defeat of Doncaster, with Ebbage again on target along with David Smith.

Doncaster currently top the Division with 12 points from five games, Hallam are second with seven points from three and Bankers fourth with six points from six, followed by Wakefield four from four; Hull three from two; Leeds three from two and York none from two.

Other results: Doncaster 6 City of York 1, Bankers 4 City of York 3, Doncaster 5 Leeds 3, Wakefield 3 Bankers 7, Bankers 1 Leeds 2, Doncaster 9 Wakefield 0.
