City of Sheffield Saints faced bottom of the table Stockport Falcons at All Saints in what should have been a formality.

Unfortunately for Saints, the visitors had other ideas.

Four 3 pointers - three from Kingsley Ellmer and one from Pete Olusoga - and three offensive rebounds from young Phil Drewett were the only positives for the home side in the first quarter which ended all square at 18-18.

Saints then took control to move into a 33-22 half time lead only for Stockport to hit back and outscore the Saints by five, despite two threes from Chris Hackett.

The visitors hit the first basket of the final quarter, to close the gap to four but five three-pointers finally helped the Saints to an unconvincing 78-66 win.

Team and scorers: Kingsley Ellmer 18 (six 3s), Gary Bywater 13 (one 3), Chris Hackett 13 (three 3s), Luke Parker 10 (two 3s), Garnet Gayle 8, Javan Hayles 7, Phil Drewett 6, Pete Olusoga 3, Chris Law.

Saints next game is at Huddersfield Heat on February 18.
