A stunning innings of 88 from Aussie star Aaron Finch propelled Yorkshire Vikings to a tense NatWest T20 Blast win over Roses rivals Lancashire at Old Trafford last night.
Finch’s innings, from 55 balls and containing five huge sixes, saw the Vikings pull off a five-wicket victory at the home of their arch enemy. But there was controversy at the end, as Lancashire were penalised six runs for a slow over rate.
Alex Lees aided Yorkshire’s cause with 36 off 29 balls, and a late 19 from Jonny Bairstow helped them get over the line.
Earlier, Paul Horton and Tom Smith had scored half centuries for Lancashire, before the latter was dismissed by a stunning piece of fielding. Smith launched a shot towards the boundary, where a diving Adam Lyth caught the ball and threw it to Finch before he fell over the boundary.
