Barnsley boss David Flitcroft has admitted that his players are “feeling the pressure” of the relegation battle.
But Flitcroft remains confident that the Reds will avoid the Championship trap door.
“I’ve spoken to the players and I’m not going to have any victims round this place,” he said. “The fans surely aren’t giving us that tense feeling. The fans have been incredible.
“I just think it’s the players are feeling the pressure of the situation. There’s no doubt about it.” The Reds conceded a later equaliser in their 1-1 draw with Derby.
Flitcroft added: “Don’t forget we got done 6-0 at home [to Charlton on Saturday] and we’ve had two players sent-off. That’s still in the back of the players’ minds.
“It doesn’t matter how mentally strong you are as a player, to carry that into a game is hard because they didn’t want to get smashed again. I can really understand it.
“It was a brave performance though we didn’t get the result we wanted.”
