Goalkeeper Adam Davies, formerly of Sheffield Wednesday, has today signed a two-year deal with Barnsley to become their first summer signing.
The 21-year-old, who is still waiting to make his professional debut, came through the youth ranks at Everton before moving to Hillsborough in 2012. Davies was one of eight players released by the Owls at the end of last season.
Davies, who will face stern competition for the number one jersey from Luke Steele, said: “I can’t wait to get back to training and for the season to start.
“I worked with Mark Crossley for a few months at Sheffield Wednesday. He is a really good coach and I’ll be in good hands here.
“I started off at Everton when I was 14 and spent five or six years there before moving to Sheffield Wednesday. Hopefully this is the start of a new chapter for me at Barnsley.”
