DANNY Wilson will be asked to transform the culture of Bramall Lane after being appointed Sheffield United manager.

DANNY Wilson will be asked to transform the culture of Bramall Lane after being appointed Sheffield United manager.

Kevin McCabe, the South Yorkshire club’s plc chairman, made the admission after expressing his disappointment at the quality of football they have produced in recent seasons.

Echoing the sentiments of those supporters who voiced their dissatisfaction at the tactics employed by some of Wilson’s predecessors, McCabe said: “I’ve got to admit there have been times when, even if we’ve got a result, I’ve come away and thought I’ve not really enjoyed watching that much.

“Yes, of course results are the most important thing and that’s always going to be the case but it’s also important that we try to make sure people enjoy themselves too.

“If we can achieve both, then great. That’s what we’ve got to aim for.”

Meanwhile, Stephen Quinn has hinted he could be tempted to end his nine-year association with United this summer. Wigan and Swansea are reported to be interested in signing the midfielder, who admits he would like to play at a higher level.

“If a club from the Championship or even the Premier League came in for me I would want to go because at the end of the day I want to play at the highest level that I can,” he said. “However, I’m fully committed to Sheffield United until that happens because I love the club.”
