TWO goals from Ched Evans couldn’t stop Sheffield United from losing 3-2 at Carlisle this afternoon.
The on-form striker scored in the seventh and 45th minute.
But the Cumbrians had the upper hand.
They went ahead through Ivory Coast striker Francois Zoco after two minutes.
And while Evans levelled, Zoco was soon celebrating his second on 15 minutes, with a header.
The Blades’ Welsh ace dragged his side back with a goal direct from a free kick from just outside the penalty box.
Yet the winner came from Scottish midfielder Jon-Paul McGovern on 71 minutes.
He struck from the edge of the penalty box to the bottom right corner leaving Simonsen no chance.
The defeat meant United lost their second spot to neighbours Sheffield Wednesday.
They are two points adrift of an automatic spot.
