Argentina head coach Alejandro Sabella will step down after the World Cup final it has been announced.
The decision of the former Sheffield United midfielder will not be swayed, regardless if Argentina lift the World Cup on Sunday.
His departure was announced by his agent Eugenio Lopez, speaking to a local Argentine radio station.
“To go at the top is always positive,” Lopez said.
“I believe he gave everything to the national team and that now is the time to give way to another person.
“He’s going. He’s leaving whatever happens. Whether they are champions or not, a cycle is ending.”
Sabella’s contract was due to expire after the tournament. He has managed his country since 2011.
