Former Sheffield United defender Matt Kilgallon was last night locked in talks with Ipswich Town about a move to Portman Road.
Kilgallon opened talks with Mick McCarthy’s side after being released by Sunderland earlier this month.
The centre-half moved to the North-East three years ago but made less than 30 first team appearances and spent time on loan at Doncaster Rovers and Middlesbrough.
Kilgallon angered Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio recently when he was pictured with Phil Bardsley, also previously of United, in a casino ahead of the final match of the Premier League season against Tottenham Hotspur.
Meanwhile, Curtis Woodhouse will be the subject of ‘An Evening With’ at Bramall Lane on Wednesday 24 July.
The footballer turned professional boxer made over 100 appearances for United before winning the English light-welterweight title.
Tickets for the event, priced £17, are available by telephoning 08719951889.
Alternatively, seats can be reserved at www.sufc.talent-sport.co.uk.
Refreshments, including pie, peas and gravy, are included while tables of 10 cost £150.
