Sheffield United have been warned not to under-estimate the threat posed by Crewe Alexandra ahead of this afternoon’s League One’s fixture at Gresty Road, writes James Shield.
Despite languishing in the relegation zone, Steve Davis’ side enter their meeting with the visitors from Bramall Lane searching for a fourth straight victory and coursing with confidence following Tuesday’s victory over second-placed Peterborough
Davis, who is expected to hand on-loan striker Danny Haynes his Alexandra debut, said: “It’s not easy when you are losing every week. As manager, you are running out of things to say and it gets a bit monotonous.
“But it’s nice now to talk about something that we have all got excited about, and three wins on the bounce has been very difficult for us to achieve in this division over the last couple of seasons.
“So we have made good strides forward, but we still have some hard work to do. However, things are now looking a lot more hopeful for us.”
Alexandra, who took just four points from their opening 11 games this term, signed Haynes on a short-term basis from Notts County to bolster the attacking options at Davis’ disposal.
“We have brought Danny here to try to help him find his scoring touch and his form,” he said. “I said to him after the Peterborough game that we had got some time to work with him and things will be different for him at the weekend.”
