David Weir will attempt to get inside the mind of his players ahead of Saturday’s League One clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Sheffield United manager, whose side travels to Molineux searching for its first win since the opening weekend of the season, admitted egos have been bruised by a series of frustrating defeats.

Insisting recent results do not reflect United’s efforts in the competition so far this term, Weir said: “Of course everyone is hurting but what you do in these situations is look after each other. Keep believing in the message, stay together and strong.

“I’m really pleased to say that’s the attitude this group has.”

United remained 22nd in the table following their defeat by Preston North End four days ago. Wolves. Despite losing five of their previous six games, Weir insisted it is important to accentuate the positive aspects of United’s recent performances.

“What we will do is tell them about all the good things they have done and continue to do,” he said. “I really believe they just need that break everyone does from time to time.”
