New Sheffield United manager Chris Morgan can revive the club’s stuttering promotion challenge, first-team regular Tony McMahon has claimed.
Since succeeding Danny Wilson at the helm, Morgan has garnered four points from two matches and will oversee first-team affairs until the end of the 2012/13 season when his situation will be reviewed.
United sit in fourth position League One, trailing second-placed Bournemouth by five points with just three matches remaining but McMahon is refusing to give up hope of securing an automatic promotion spot.
McMahon told The Star: “We are devastated with what’s happened [Wilson going] but I think we have the right man in Morgs [Chris Morgan] who can really get us up for the challenge.”
“Morgs is getting us revved up so we are going to be right at it and have a good go,” added the right-back. “Our target at the start of the season was automatic promotion and that hasn’t changed.”
