Chris Morgan is looking forward to taking part in tomorrow’s charity fundraiser at Bramall Lane.
The former Sheffield United defender, now a member of the club’s coaching staff, will join the likes of James Beattie, David Holdsworth, Curtis Woodhouse, Keith Curle and Leigh Bromby in a Legends XI set to face Once Upon a Smile FC which contains actors from Emmerdale, Coronation Street, Hollyoaks and members of boyband 911.
Morgan, whose career was cut short by injury, said: “It will be nice to see some old faces once again. I keep in touch with a lot of the lads but it will be great to pull the boots on and stand shoulder to shoulder with them again.
“It will be my first eleven versus eleven at Bramall Lane since the injury in 2010 so I’m looking forward to it. I don’t know how long the legs will last but fortunately we’ve got plenty of centre halves in the squad.”
The match, which kicks-off at 1pm, is designed to raise money for the Once Upon a Smile Foundation and Prostate Cancer UK. Howard Webb will referee.
“A couple of very good causes is a good enough reason to give the legs a run and the family are big Emmerdale fans so they are particularly looking forward to me going up against a few of the lads from the show,” Morgan added.
Tickets, priced £6 for adults and £1 under-16’s, are available online at www.sufc.talent-sport.co.uk, by telephoning 0871 995 1889 or from the United box office.
There are also a limited number of VIP packages available which give holders the chance to meet both teams in person after the game.
