Che Adams and Kieran Wallace are equipped to seize the “massive opportunity” they have been handed by Sheffield United, one of the club’s senior professionals has explained, writes James Shield.

Bob Harris, the former Clyde and Blackpool full-back, revealed his two young team mates have impressed the rest of Nigel Clough’s squad with their ability since arriving from non-league Ilkeston earlier this term.

But, having praised Wallace’s professionalism following an impressive debut at Fleetwood Town in December, Harris insisted Adams is “cut from the same cloth.”

“Che has got the same attitude and approach as Kieran which is great to see,” he said. “We know they’ve got the talent, they wouldn’t be here otherwise, so what is going to decide where they go in the game is their attitude and that’s been excellent so far.

“Where they’ve come from, they’re not stupid, they know this is a massive opportunity for them. Especially at their age.

“It’s this type of opportunity that you really shouldn’t, if you’ve got anything about you, risk wasting. And they’ve shown, whatever happens, the won’t.”

Adams, aged 18, scored twice during the second-leg of United’s Capital One Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur nearly four weeks ago while Wallace, who was released by Nottingham Forest at the end of last term, has made five appearances after moving to South Yorkshire.

“Kieran showed his maturity when he came in,” Harris said. “Getting those goals has done wonders for Che’s confidence too.

“He’s still young and he’s still learning but the good thing is that, just like Kieran, he’s willing to learn. To be able to do that at a club like Sheffield United can only stand them in good stead.

“That’s the thing which, speaking personally, has impressed me the most about them. Their willingness and desire to get better, listen and improve.

“They both know they’re not the finished articles yet. None of us are.”
