SHEFFIELD United have not made an approach for Dave Kitson, The Star can confirm.
The Portsmouth striker was linked with a move to Bramall Lane earlier this summer after being informed he is surplus to requirements at Fratton Park.
However, sources close to United’s League One rivals last night revealed they have received no enquiry, either officially or informally, from Danny Wilson’s side about Kitson.
The 32-year-old, who has been granted leave of absence from Portsmouth’s pre-season training camp in Spain, is among a group of senior players the Hampshire club must sell after re-entering administration.
Former United utility Greg Halford has also been placed on the transfer list by Pompey.
Portsmouth will start the new campaign on minus 10 points due to their financial problems.
But the Football League has informed potential investors they are guaranteed membership next term.
