Chris Porter, the Sheffield United centre-forward, has warned Hull City that Nigel Clough’s side will not be overawed during their FA Cup semi-final on Sunday, writes James Shield.

And Porter, speaking ahead of tomorrow’s tie between holders Wigan Athletic and Arsenal, admitted it would be a “dream come true” to face his home-town club in next month’s Wembley showpiece.

Despite admitting City are “massive favourites” to progress, he told The Star: “Everyone is thinking Hull are going to win it but we’ve been underdogs all the way through. We’re definitely not going to be scared of the occasion or anything like that.

“We’ve been to Aston Villa and won and we’ve been to Fulham and won. And we deserved it both times too.

“I never thought for a moment that we’d get as far as the quarter-finals, let alone the semi-finals. We know it’s going to be tough but we’re going down there to go through.

“We’ve shown anything is possible so why not.”

Porter, whose late minute penalty against Colchester in the first round marked the start of United’s journey to the national stadium, continued: “If we get through and Wigan, where I’m from, get through as well then it would be a dream come true for me.

“They’ve got a really tough game too but there’s no reason why they can’t do it either.

“All the way through the competition, when we’ve had a chance we’ve taken it. We’ve been ruthless and that’s what we’ve got to do again.

“Other people have had chances against us and not taken them. Call it luck or whatever, but the fact is, that we’ve taken the ones that have come our way and made the most of them.”

“We’ve had so many matches (eight) since we beat Charlton in the quarter-final,” Porter added. “So we’ve not really had any time to think about this game but now we can’t wait for it to start.”
