DANNY Wilson last night claimed Sheffield United deserve more recognition after dedicating October’s League One Manager of the Month award to his players.
Despite preparing for today’s visit of Stevenage second in the table, United have been criticised by some supporters for adopting a safety first approach to games.
Wilson, acknowledging the South Yorkshire club must improve in front of goal, nevertheless bristles at suggestions they are intent on trying to grind their way towards promotion.
“The expectation levels here are so high that sometimes what these lads do goes unnoticed,” he said. “This isn’t a personal award but it is a reflection of the team.
“If they aren’t doing well then you don’t win one of these, it’s as simple as that.
“So getting this is tremendous from the point of view of the players.”
George Long claimed the Player of the Month award and Wilson added: “It’s deserved.”
