The Millers have suffered an early pre-season blow after Ben Pringle and skipper Craig Morgan rejected the offer of new deals with the club.
Both men have reached the end of their contracts but have turned down the chance to extend their stays at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.
“I was informed by Paul Douglas late on Wednesday evening that at this stage we have been unable to agree terms with either of the lads or their representatives,” boss Steve Evans told the club’s official website.
“I am obviously disappointed that both have decided to move on from what has been a simply stunning three year period for both players.
“I am not privy to the actual detail, as those negotiations are conducted by our chief operating officer.
“On behalf of everyone at Rotherham United we would like to thank both for their service and we wish them well for the future.”
Morgan joined the Millers three years ago while Pringle has been with the club for four years.
