Popular utility man Drew Talbot has surprised Spireites supporters by signing a new two year deal.
It was thought that Talbot, a fans’ favourites for four and a half years, would move on.
The former Owls man, aged 26, joined the club, initially on loan, from Luton Town in January 2009. Twice a Goal of the Season winner and once the Player of the Year, Talbot is one game short of his 200th club appearance.
Another two-year deal was also clinched yesterday. Local company Serendipity Healthcare has agreed to sponsor Chesterfield’s pre-match warm-up kit and benchwear in a deal worth around £60,000.
Chesterfield chief executive Chris Turner said: “We’re delighted to receive the backing of a respected local organisation and I’d like to thank Serendipity Healthcare for their valued support.”
Serendipity Healthcare director Sarah Pickles said: “We are proud to continue our sponsorship of the club. It is the hub of Chesterfield and brings so much pleasure to people of all ages.”
