Spireites’ cup hero Sam Clucas is confident they can pick up a positive result at League One leaders Swindon Town today.
Clucas, who scored a double in extra time to help Chesterfield knock Scunthorpe United out of the FA Cup on Tuesday, said: “Swindon away; they’re top of the league and in great form but we’re in good form as well at the minute so if we can go there and get a result it turns January into a great month.
“We don’t fear anyone. We’ll go out there to play our own game because we know if we’re on it we’ll beat most teams with the quality we’ve got.”
The brace took the former Mansfield Town man to seven goals for the season and his midweek success came after manager Paul Cook switched him from the left back slot he’s been occupying of late to a wide left attacking position, his normal berth, at the start of extra time.
Dan Jones, formerly of Sheffield Wednesday, came on to allow that positional change and he could well start at the County Ground today.
