Spireites assistant manager Leam Richardson is delighted to have secured the signature of his former teammate, Jimmy Ryan.
Richardson said: “There were a number of clubs after his signature so we’re really glad we’ve managed to get him over the line and make him a Chesterfield player.” Ryan was a playing colleague at Accrington Stanley before a move to Scunthorpe United two years ago.
Paul Cook’s number two added: “At a club like Chesterfield, we know where we want to go.
“If you can add the right blend of players then you’ll have a good chance.
“We’re going in the right direction and, when people get a feel of that, they’ll soon want to join.”
Spireites’ new youth-team coach, Mark Smith, is delighted with how the new backroom staff are working together.
“It’s really good that you get together, meet new people and they’ve all got different ideas,” he said.
“I’ll learn off them and I’m sure they’ll pick up bits and pieces from me. We look a really positive group, with the main aim of improving Chesterfield.
“The main thing for me will just be a review of the situation, look at the players we have got and seeing if we can improve them.”
