Football gossip: Manchester United’s Bale fails, Arsenal target Higuain snubs Napoli deal, Chelsea want Tottenham’s Rose

Manchester United have tried but failed to prise Gareth Bale away from Real Madrid, on two occasions this summer.

The Sun are reporting this morning that the Welsh wizard was the subject of two £100m bids from Louis van Gaal – but the Spaniards wouldn’t accept.

Transfer speculation about the two clubs has been rife, with David de Gea a target for Madrid, and United keen to sign Sergio Ramos, Ronaldo and Bale.

As it stands, none of the moves appear to be imminent or even remotely possible.

Arsenal target Gonzalo Higuain has rejceted a new contract at Napoli, say the Daily Mirror.

His agent spoke to an Italian radio station to confirm the striker would continue on his current deal, due to expire in 2018.

Chelsea are said to be ready to splash the cash on Tottenham’s Danny Rose.
