Their second-half attacking came to nothing as they failed to break down Brentford’s defence despite heavy pressure, and the Bees grabbed a second goal in the seventh minute of time added on through Nick Proschwitz.

The visitors had gone 1-0 with a quality strike seconds before half-time from Andre Gray.

They held on as the Millers went at them in the second half before their late, late second.

Matt Derbyshire missed a great chance in the 60th minute, shooting straight at keeper David Button when completely clear.

Paul Taylor brought a superb save from Button in the 77th minute with a low volley as he latched on to Jordan Bowery’s deflected cross.

There were other chances for Bowery, Richie Smallwood and Taylor again, while Kirk Broadfoot opted to cross when a shot looked the more inviting option.

In the first half, Broadfoot hit the bar with a header, as did Taylor with a lovely curling shot.

Rotherham go into the international break with two wins and three defeats from their opening five Championship matches.

Brentford’s former Stocksbridge Park Steels striker, Scott Hogan, was carried off injured in the 82nd minute.
