Chesterfield got their New Year off with a 1-1 draw at home to Oldham Athletic.
It wasn’t what the League One bottom club had hoped for at the B2Net stadium.
They had gone ahead when Jordan Bowery scored from just inside the penalty area with an effort sailing to the top left corner of the goal.
But the advantage was rubbed out two minutes into first half injury time when Matt Smith headed in from inside the six-yard box.
Chesterfeld have 16 points from 24 games - and will need to find a magical solution if they are to avoid relegation.
