Rovers secure semi-final Cup berth

BRETT Oxer and Nathan Lovell struck as AFC Sportsman Rovers booked their place in the last four of the DDFA Challenge Cup by beating Hemsworth MW 2-1.

In the Premier Division semi-final, South Elmsall United needed a Paul Smith strike in extra time to see off the challenge of Hatfield Main 1-0. United now meet Hemsworth Town in the final who also won by the same score line against Brodsworth Welfare.

Highwayman sealed their place in the Division One final, defeating league leaders Denaby United 3-2. Sulaiman Deeke-Massaquai (2) cancelled out strikes Daniel Bamford and an own goal for United before Emmanuel Bocharie hit a last-gasp winner. Scawthorpe & Bentley Rhinos are the other finalists, Dean Daffin and Steven Heath giving them a 2-1 victory away at Bawtry Town Reserves. Robert Hollinger netted for Town.

Premier Division leaders Rossington Main went down 4-0 to a rejuvenated Bawtry Town side, Simon Minshall bagging a brace along with strikes from Sam Weston and Jermaine Green.

Sutton Rovers are now level on points with Rossington after Leon Tarry and Mitchell Wain found the net to seal a hard-fought 2-1 win over South Kirkby Colliery.

Bramley Sunnyside are just a point behind the leaders as they trounced Carcroft Village 8-3.

Ryan Smyth claimed a hat trick, Ben Walker (2) and Matt Brunyee, Marc Trowill and Neil Westwood also registered.

Chris Dyson and Paul Hird gave Edlington Town a 2-1 win away at Kinsley Boys, Andrew Gorton netting for Kinsley.

With Denaby United on cup duty, Shafton Villa stretched their lead at the top to seven points after a resounding 4-0 win over bottom club Askern Athletic, Chris Thawley notching a double while Bayden Lockwood and Liam Brown were also on target.

Ricky Gaskell’s treble saw South Kirkby Town overcome ISG Doncaster 3-1, Emil Romanowicz getting the consolation for ISG.

Sun FC and Ackworth United shared the points in a 2-2 draw.
