OWLS assistant manager Chris Evans has told of the burning desire of management and players to succeed for the fans.

He insists that if the team can sustain the standards they have targeted then they will be more than a match for any of their rivals in League One.

Evans has admitted that the Owls are a “work in progress” but believes that they can build on their “reasonable position” of being only four points off the top of the table.

“This is a team that began to be put together at the start of the season; it takes time to achieve something that is credible and sustainable,” he said.

“We want to keep working as a hard as we can. The manager loves working with the players; he’s a terrific coach and motivator who can get the best out of players.

“They are a great bunch who enjoy coming to work and it is a pleasure to work with them. There have been times when they have let themselves down but there have been some real positives.

“We want to be able to entertain, We want to show our supporters we can pass the ball, create opportunities and be adept at se- pieces, and at times we have have done.

“We want to do our level best to show our fans what we can do. There’s still work to be done but if we’re right I think we’ll be more than a match for teams in League one.”
