Daniel Pudil says it took just two minutes for him to fall in love with Sheffield Wednesday.

The Czech full back joined on a season-long loan from Watford on Saturday and said he did not take much convincing to move up the M1.

“I came up on Friday evening to Sheffield to talk with the chairman of the club,” Pudil said.

“After one or two minutes I had a feeling I had to sign for Sheffield Wednesday.

“I’m really happy to be here and I’m looking forward to play the first game.”

He may have yet to play a game for the Owls, but Pudil says he hopes to be in a position to earn a permanent switch to Hillsborough by the end of the season.

He said: “I promise I will give my best and hopefully at the end of the season I can celebrate with the supporters and maybe sign a long deal.”

According to head coach Carlos Carvalhal, Pudil will battle with Rhoys Wiggins for the left back spot at Wednesday.

And the 29-year-old says he will do everything he can to help the Owls push back towards the top fight.

He said: “The club has not been in the Premier League for 15 or 16 years and it is the goal of everyone here to get back there.

“The chairman is doing a very good job.

“He’s prepared the team very well and it is up to us now to do a great job.”
