Boss Carlos Carvalhal is urging his Owls team to be firmly in the Championship promotion race heading into the final 12 matches of the season.
Saturday’s 1-0 success over Queens Park Rangers lifted Wednesday above Birmingham City into fifth position.
“The Championship will not be decided now,” stated Carvalhal.
“The games are a little strange in the lottery here.
“In the last 12 games of the Championship, we will play seven at home and five away. It means at this moment we will play more games away than at home. We are performing very well away but, of course, we are more strong and solid at Hillsborough. The fans are a massive help to us and gave us big support against QPR.
“Our proposal is to try and be in a good position going into the final 12 games, with seven to play at home. If we are in a good position, we can achieve something.”
Carvalhal is delighted with the way his team have regrouped and progressed since losing in the Play-Off Final at Wembley last May.
The Portuguese chief said: “We are resilient and reacting well all of the time.
“We are in a good way in the league.
“We are more ready than last season; we are so far playing at a higher level than last season.
“The Championship is unique. The number of games, the crowds and the intensity - it is unique. There are good coaches and different teams. Huddersfield, for example, play in a completely different way to Cardiff so it is a situation where you need to be able to adapt.”
